It was produced as a successor to the P3 model, with a bigger 4-liter V12-engine to increase its endurance and power. As if all of this model range growth wasn't enough, Porsche now has a world-class electric car called the Taycan. Ferrari brought out a range of P series cars during the 1960s and 70s, with the 330 P4 being one of the most limited. The Porsche 911 has continued to drive innovation and stay on the cutting edge and hasn’t been afraid to embrace changes once thought sacred. The menace came from Porsche who dominated racing in the early 70's, leaving Ferrari dreaming about the title. Air-cooled engines were core to 911 value proposition until the 996 in 1998 when the engines switched to being water cooled. With decades of continuous development it is the best sportscar in history. ![]() Its rear engine, flat six boxer engine formula has been consistent since it was first built. No other model is more famous worldwide than the Porsche 911. Over the years four generations were built and the 356 had roadster, convertible, cabriolet, and split-roof variants. With an engine in the back and rear-wheel drive it was sporty and fun. Lightweight and with awesome handling, this diminutive sports car was a hit. The most interesting US models in the late 70s were throwbacks to an earlier era - Chevrolets 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette came with a Stingray-like fastback, while Fords Mustang King Cobra was a throwback to the muscle car days, sporting stripes, a cool snake decal and a 122 horsepower engine.
